Within our one Tax Community and our Operating Model for Taxes at Bayer, the Global Business Services (GBS) team plays a key role performing international and local tax activities regarding Tax Compliance (including Indirect & Direct taxes), Tax Accounting, and Transfer Pricing. They also provide tax advice within the GBS centers and contribute to continuous process improvements.
Our Tax operations team comprises various groups across different locations, focusing on processes mainly related to Indirect taxation, Direct taxation, Tax Accounting, and Withholding Tax.
We are looking for a Tax Senior Expert who will:
Coordinate, supervise, and review the preparation of recurrent tax returns for the countries in scope. Support and coordinate experts working on complex countries and review their tasks.
Lead and contribute to improving tax processes, implementing innovations, and standardization to enhance overall tax compliance quality. Ensure the quality of tax-related accounting data through monitoring and control checks, and collaborate with other departments and tax authorities.
Assist in resolving issues and follow-up actions across the team.
Coordinate global activities carried out by different teams.
Manage communications with country tax organizations, monitor and improve tax KPIs, and address tax issues.
Keep abreast of new legislation affecting tax compliance in the countries in scope.
Participate actively in meetings with business partners (legal, finance, IT, and accounting teams) to share information and support business initiatives.
Handle notifications and requirements from tax authorities.
Serve as the main contact for tax authorities and auditors or support local teams and outsourcers during tax audits by preparing the necessary information and documentation.
Lead or support projects and transitions, both local and global.
Manage knowledge by guiding, documenting, and training on Bayer’s process and control standards. Support knowledge management activities daily.
Partner with the Tax Center of Excellence (Co E) to ensure adherence to global standards and collaborate with the GBS network on tax issues, implementing necessary process changes.
Prepare and deliver training related to tax processes for stakeholders and the Tax Team.
Who you are:
BA/BS degree in Tax, Finance, Accounting, Law, or Business with 4+ years of experience in taxes.
Proven professional experience in multinational companies and preferably in international tax firms. Experience in GBS centers is a plus.
Solid experience in Tax Operations, Tax accounting/reporting, Corporate Income Tax, Indirect Taxes, and International Tax.
Strong tax judgment and business understanding or the ability to learn quickly.
Proficiency in SAP FI/CO modules, understanding of interfaces with other modules, and advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of accounting, tax, and finance processes within multinational companies and their intersections with other business processes.
Ability to translate digital technologies into processes.
Capability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
High accuracy, initiative, and reliability in work.
Ability to operate effectively amidst ambiguity using sound judgment.
Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to interact with finance and non-finance staff at various levels.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
High proficiency in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
Well-organized, flexible, and adaptable to a changing work environment.
