To support our work with@one Alliance, we are building a team based in Spain, giving you the opportunity to work on UK water projects as part of MMB. We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP8, this will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we've ever delivered before. We'll be embarking on a new kind of project delivery focusing on nature‑based solutions like wetlands and sustainable urban drainage schemes.
Role Overview
As a Senior Civil Engineer you will work in collaboration with the project design team to produce civil designs on a diverse programme of wastewater (sewage) treatment, infrastructure (water and sewer pipelines) and water (treatment and storage) projects. You will develop new ways of working that focus on delivering outcomes, rather than outputs, to reduce carbon, protect and increase natural capital, address climate change, and embrace innovations and new digital technologies. Broaden your skills by working collaboratively with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Stakeholder Management, Environmental & Planning, and Construction Managers.
Responsibilities Development of civil designs for water‑sector assets and application of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, water‑sector guidance and Anglian Water standards in the design of civil components.
Undertake hydraulic design of pipelines (pressure and gravity flow), flow in open channels and closed conduits; design, schedule and specify pipes, including ductile iron, steelwork and plastic.
Read drawings and models and produce clear and concise design sketches to be incorporated into a Model; provide input to specifications, proposals, work scope, and schedules.
Undertake design development from feasibility studies, optioneering and detailed designs; support the preparation of Engineering Project Plans and ensure work is carried out in accordance with agreed timescales and budgets.
Assist in responding to Design Queries and Design Change Requests during assembly of permanent works on site, with awareness of cost, Health & Safety, programme, compliance and risk impacts.
Prepare site investigation and survey requirements and attend and record survey findings.
Ensure that design output and procurement documentation is prepared in accordance with appropriate standards and specifications, and the Alliance Management System.
Develop efficient designs that achieve the project affordability, programme and carbon targets.
Assist with the management of Tier 2 sub‑contractors and understand root cause analysis for developing solutions that balance capital and maintenance needs. Qualifications & Experience Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a relevant Engineering discipline.
Extensive experience in a project engineering environment, deliverable design solutions in the water sector.
Strong civil engineering background ideally in the water sector and a keenness to work in a multi‑disciplinary engineering team.
Familiarity with Design & Build project environments is an advantage.
Member of a professional body.
Advanced level of English / ability to work in English.
