What we’re looking for We are seeking an R3 researcher in Family Studies at the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF).
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph D in fields related to family studies, such as Sociology, Demography, Psychology, or Social Work.
The research focus areas include but are not limited to, family resilience, family policies, fatherhood and motherhood, time use diaries, and work-family balance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: Conducting and supervising data analyses Writing manuscripts for publication in top scientific journals Leading the writing of grant applications for research funding Communicating with research funders and handling project administration Key Responsibilities Leading the implementation of research projects as a principal investigator The candidate must have: A Ph D in a discipline related to the position Oral and written proficiency in English Fluency in Spanish The following aspects will be looked upon favorably: Excellent track record of publications Participation in funded research projects Proven research experience in the area of family studies Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to supervise and guide undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects Selection process In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with an Excellence Award for Research in Human Resources, which ensures that candidates are selected purely on the basis of excellence criteria.
The UIC Barcelona selection process involves: An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move on to the next stage.
All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona.
A public oral defence by finalist applicants: a presentation about their career (research, management and teaching).
Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defence.
The defence should last a total of 60 minutes.
